Something REALLY Stupid

It happens every album campaign..

You’ve gotten the whole thing recorded, mixed, mastered, pressed, hired a publicist, had a big release show, and produced a couple “Official” music videos, done a regional tour or two, and then..

You run out of money.

And invariably, you say to yourself, “damn, I really have another few songs I wanted to ‘put out’” (i.e. release as “singles” / make videos for).

So you have to get really creative. And here’s (thankfully) where your background in film and video comes in.

This is exactly what happened when I decided to make a video for “Life is Long.”

So I did the whole thing on my laptop, and just thought I’d make it silly for a change.

Originally the thought was to have a bunch of cartoon insects singing about “life is long” and stuff; little animals with really short lifespans (hence the insect shot I ended up putting in).

But then I needed to work with what I had, or could easily attain, footage-wise.

The result is what you see.

The finished thing was lucky enough to get picked up and premiered by Digital Spy, one of the most popular culture sites in the UK, so I guess it just goes to show that creativity, as they say, really is the mother of invention.
